School of Music Audition Dates
If an audition is required for your major, you will be prompted to schedule a date and time when completing the Music Supplement portion of your application. You will be asked to select one of the below dates.
On-Campus Audition Dates*
- Saturday, November 15, 2025 – Early Action (Undergraduate) and Spring 2026 Transfer Applicants
- Friday, December 12, 2025 – Early Action Audition Day for First-Year Applicants and Early-Bird Graduate Audition Date (for mostly non-prescreened instruments)
- Saturday, December 13, 2025 – Early Action Audition Day for First-Year Applicants and Early-Bird Graduate Audition Date (for mostly non-prescreened instruments)
- Friday, January 23, 2026 – Undergraduate and Graduate Applicants
- Saturday, January 24, 2026 – Undergraduate and Graduate Applicants
- Friday, February 6, 2026 – Undergraduate and Graduate Applicants
- Saturday, February 7, 2026 – Undergraduate and Graduate Applicants
- Friday, March 20, 2026 – Fall 2026 Transfer Applicants (early-bird priority date)

Virtual and Recorded Options:
An on-campus audition is strongly encouraged for all applicants. Applicants who reside within the State of Illinois are expected to audition on campus; exceptions may be considered for those living outside the state or facing financial hardship that prevents them from traveling. Music-Specific Requirements for Solo Auditions
For undergraduate applicants in Voice (BMUS), Lyric Theatre (BMA), Music Education (BME), Music Composition (BMUS), and Open Studies (BMUS), as well as graduate applicants in Performance and Literature (MM, DMA) or the Artist Diploma program.
For undergraduate applicants in Instrumental Music (BMUS), Music Education (BME), Music Composition (BMUS), and Open Studies (BMUS), as well as graduate applicants in Performance and Literature (MM, DMA), Vocal Coaching and Accompanying (MM, DMA), Collaborative Piano (MM), Piano Pedagogy (MM), or the Artist Diploma program.
For undergraduate applicants in Instrumental Music (BM), Music Education (BME), Music Composition (BM), and Open Studies (BM), as well as graduate applicants in Performance and Literature (MM, DMA) or the Artist Diploma program.
For undergraduate applicants in Jazz Performance (BM), Music Education (BME), Music Composition (BM), and Open Studies (BM), as well as for graduate applicants in Jazz Performance (MM, DMA).
For undergraduate applicants in Instrumental Music (BMUS), Music Education (BME), Music Composition (BM), and Open Studies (BM), as well as graduate applicants in Performance and Literature (MM, DMA) or the Artist Diploma program.
