Undergraduate Application Process
How to apply for a music degree program as a FIRST-CHOICE MAJOR:
- Complete the Online Application.
- Complete the Music Supplement Form. The link to your form will be emailed to you 24-48 hours after you submit your University application. The Music Supplement collects major-specific preferences such as instrument or concentration. It also allows applicants to select their audition or interview preference (if required).
- Refer to the relevant degree page for more details on program-specific application requirements.
- International Students: In addition to following the standard admission steps, please read the Undergraduate International Requirements.
Information regarding applying for an undergraduate music degree program as a SECOND-CHOICE MAJOR:
- On the University Application, the only music degree option for individuals who list music as their second-choice major is the Bachelor of Arts in Music degree. The second-choice option on the application means that if you are denied your first choice, your application will be reviewed for your second-choice major.
- At the University of Illinois, you can only declare a second degree after you’ve earned 30 credits on campus. Students interested in pre-approval to pursue Music as a dual degree should email MusicAdmissions@illinois.edu once their University Application is submitted for more information.
