Each year ISYM hires over 170 faculty and staff from across the country to provide the best possible musical instruction and supervision.

Vacancies may include:

ensemble conductors
counselors
conductor assistant/ensemble assistants
sectional/master class coaches
work crew
librarians
elective instructors

ISYM is always interested in receiving nominations for future conductors. If you know of that special conductor who inspires young musicians to make music on a higher level, we want to hear about him/her. Email us!

Counselor Positions

Our counseling staff is the best around because we are able to draw excellent experienced educators to our campus each year. Most members of the ISYM counseling staff are also pursuing their Master of Music Education degree as part of the Summers-only MME degree program. Educators who are not in the MME program are also encouraged to apply.

Counselors who are pursuing the Summers-Only Master of Music Education degree qualify for aid in the form of an assistantship. These graduate assistantships include a tuition waiver, partial waiver of fees and a stipend. Housing and meals are also provided while ISYM is in session. The summer MME program is designed to be completed in three summers and features classes taught by U of I professors. The assistantship is renewable up to three years to allow completion of the MME degree.

Applicants to the Summer-Only MME are not automatically considered for counselor positions. You do not need to be pursuing a degree in order to serve as a counselor. This is a separate application process.

February 15: Summer MME and ISYM Counselor Application due. Send resume and and cover letter to isym-admin@illinois.edu for consideration.
Feb. 15-April 1: Application review and phone interviews
April 1: ISYM Counselor Offers Extended
April 15: Deadline to accept counselor position

Applications are not kept active for subsequent years; unless hired, you must re-apply to be reconsidered in future years.
