Violin Audition Requirements
Undergraduate requirements (BM, BME)
- One etude or caprice
- Two contrasting movements from a Bach solo sonata or partita
- The first or third movement of a concerto
Performing all requirements from memory is preferred but not required.
Recorded Auditions and Virtual Interviews (via Zoom)
It is highly recommended that all candidates attend an on-campus audition. If an applicant is unable to travel to campus for a live audition, the faculty will accept recorded auditions instead. Applicants who would like to submit a recorded audition will have a follow-up virtual interview with the violin faculty on either November 15th, 2024 (Early Action period) or February 8th, 2025 (regular application period). You may indicate your virtual interview date preference on the Supplemental Music Application, and Music Admissions will be in contact regarding your specific interview time prior to the interview date.
For recorded auditions, each work must be contained in one continuous video. Multiple movements of the same work must be video recorded as one continuous take. All recordings must reflect performances on Nov. 1, 2024 or later.
Please be sure to submit your recorded materials here.
