The Krannert Center for the Performing Arts will host the 2026 Hip Hop Convene beginning Wednesday, Feb. 25, bringing four days of performances, workshops, guest lectures and panel discussions to Champaign-Urbana.

This past October, guest ensemble Atlas Maior visited the School of Music for a workshop with the Improvisers Exchange Ensemble.

Led by Jason Finkelman, artistic director of the University’s Global Arts Performance Initiatives and professor in FAA, the ensemble traversed the Krannert Art Museum galleries improvising music in response to the surrounding artwork.

Krannert Center is delighted to welcome the Afro-Caribbean Jazz Collective back to Stage 5! Led by guitarist Jose Guzman, DMA ’20, The Collective’s repertoire reflect Guzman’s musical heritage with rhythms from Puerto Rico and Cuba, mixed with the sophistication of modern jazz. Their third album, “Fiesta at Caroga,” has been making waves in the jazz world.
