Two U of I saxophone alums and one incoming saxophone DMA student are members of the Fuego Saxophone Quartet from Eastman that are Wind Division Gold Medal Winners in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition this past week.
DMA candidate Mickey Chien has won 1st prize in the 14th Southern Illinois Young Artist Competition, held at Edwardsville, IL, April 22nd.

Baritone Timothy Renner (DMA candidate), has been accepted at The Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, where he will appear in the role of Rigoletto in November, and as The Demon in Rubinstein's opera of the same name in the spring.

Chia-Ying Chan has recently been named a first prize winner of the International Music Salzburg Grand Prize Virtuoso Competition, which includes an opportunity to perform at the Wiener Saal Mozarteum in July.
The Meliora trio (Jiyeon Choi, clarinet | Yeonwoo Seo, cello | Hana Lim, piano) recently received second prize in the Misbin Chamber Competition in Washington DC. The Misbin Chamber competition is presented by LeVine Music Festival and Washington Performing Arts Center.
