About Heather Beckman
Bio
Violinist Heather Beckman seeks to share compelling ideas and connect to human emotions through chamber music. As a founding member of the Solideo String Quartet, Heather has helped bring classical and contemporary works to uncommon spaces and diverse audiences in order to promote empathy, conversation, and further access to live performances. Heather has Elementary Education and Music degrees from Carthage College, University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, and University of Illinois. Her primary teachers are Nelson Lee, Charles Castleman, Andrew Williams, and Jackie Fisher.
Heather has been invited to perform with the Menomonee Falls Symphony and Concord Chamber Orchestra in addition to the Carthage Philharmonic. She was a Henry Mancini Fellow and was granted the Graduate String Quartet Fellowship at UIUC under the renowned Jupiter Quartet. The artistic director of Raise the Bar, a virtual mentorship program, Heather matches leading professional musicians with students who have little access to music education in Chicagoland. Heather has Suzuki training experience and teaches with a variety of methods, with the goal to develop beautiful tone, empathetic hearts, and inquisitive minds. She looks forward to teaching and sharing chamber music with communities in the years to come. In her free time, Heather enjoys reading, brewing kombucha, or trail running.
