Fischoff Winners Have Strong Ties To Illinois

Two U of I saxophone alums and one incoming saxophone DMA student are members of the Fuego Saxophone Quartet from Eastman that are Wind Division Gold Medal Winners in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition this past week.

"Revelations" is a new recording on the Arsis label featuring music by flutist and composer Su Lian Tan. 

Life in Wayang, composed for and premiered by the Takács Quartet in 2003, is inspired by the shadow puppets of Indonesia.

Mickey Chien wins 1st Prize in Regional Competition

DMA candidate Mickey Chien has won 1st prize in the 14th Southern Illinois Young Artist Competition, held at Edwardsville, IL, April 22nd.

Competitors came from several other major schools of music located across the midwest.
