Professor Charlotte Mattax Moersch Performs in Premiere at the Kennedy Center

Professor of Harpsichord Charlotte Mattax Moersch performs at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. with the period instrument opera company Opera Lafayette on January 30 and 31, 2018 in the American premiere of Alessandro Scarlatti's last major secular vocal work, Erminia, a passionate tale of love and war based on Torquato Tasso's epic poem, Jerusalem Delivered. The program also includes Francesco Geminiani's most well known instrumental composition on the same theme, La forêt enchantée (The Enchanted Forest), performed for the first time in its original version as a dance pantomime, with choreography by Kalanidhi Dance. The Kalanidhi dancers re-create this ballet pantomime in authentic classical South Indian dance style, offering a fresh perspective on 18th-century Baroque opera.
