Pianist Chia-Ying Chan Releases Debut Album
Illinois alum Chia-Ying Chan has recently released her debut album for solo piano.
The album, which includes Beethoven's Piano Sonata, Op. 110, Schubert's Piano Sonata, D. 959, and Irving Fine's Music for Piano, brings together repertoire based on Chan's observation of common features and possible links among the pieces that connect them with Beethoven and his legacy. This theme was discussed in a lecture recital given by Chan at National Tainan University in Tainan. The album was released by Centaur Records on April 6, 2018. The recording was completed at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts and was produced by Professor Timothy Ehlen of University of Illinois. It is now available from Amazon, Naxos, and HBDirect.
