Mana Azimi wins National Anne Adams Award
Harpist Mana Azimi is a 2018 National Anne Adams Award winner. Twenty-four finalists were selected to compete this year with seven forwarded to the grand finals. The biennial national competition was held in May, administered by the American Harp Society Foundation. Three scholarship awards of $2,000 each for full-time study of the harp are given to the three winners. The winners performed in the Winners Recital at the 2018 American Harp Society, Inc. (AHS) National Conference held this June at the University of Redlands in California. Lyon & Healy Harps, Inc. enhanced each award with a $500 gift certificate. Mana was also featured during the conference in the workshop "View from the Pit" with Emmanuel Ceysson, Principal Harp of the Metropolitan Opera.
Mana began studying the harp in high school with Karen Miller through the Mesa Public Schools Harp Program in Arizona, now directed by Illinois alumnus Charles Lynch.
