John Wustman Honored by Students
John Wustman was recently honored by a group of his former students in a very special way. In addition to starting the John Wustman Scholarship in Voice, the group worked through Jeanine Wagner, Margaret Simmons and Mary Ann Hart to recognize both the scholarship and Prof Wustman’s accomplishments as a performer and pedagogue with a bronze plaque backstage at Smith Memorial Recital Hall. The plaque was installed just days before Prof. Wustman’s 90th birthday on December 25th, and immortalize the words he has always lived by: “Ars Longa, Vita Brevis.” This Latin phrase calls attention to the enduring impact of art over the shortness of life. (Our thanks go out to Scott and Roberta Veazey for their advice regarding the specifications of the plaque.)
Donations are still being accepted to support the John Wustman Scholarship in Voice. To learn more, please contact David Allen, Director of Advancement at firstname.lastname@example.org or 217-333-6453.
