Composition Student Awarded Second Prize in International Competition

Doctoral candidate in composition David Nguyen was awarded a second prize in the XIII International Competition of Electroacoustic Composition for his composition "Adumbrations."

Sponsored by Destellos Foundation of Mar del Plata, Argentina, the annual competition garners over 100 entries from across the globe, and is judged by an international panel. 

Mr. Nguyen has recently won several other awards, including Second Place in the ASCAP/SEAMUS Student Awards for 2020, Finalist Prix in the International Confederation of Electroacoustic Music (CIME) 2019, and was awarded Honorable mention in the XII Destellos Competition (2019).

The work “Adumbrations” has been selected for multiple performances around the world over the past year. Mr. Nguyen was also selected as an active participant for the summer Academy at the Musique & Recherches in Ohain, Belgium studying under Annette Vande Gorne (A student of Pierre Schaeffer) and João Pedro Oliveira.
