Program Description
Musical Theatre is comprised of workshops designed to prepare interested singers and actors for the musical stage. Workshops are provided during the week in movement, choreography, vocal technique and literature, musical and dramatic coaching, stage craft, auditioning and diction.

REGISTRATION FOR MUSICAL THEATRE AUDITIONS ARE OPEN
Eligibility
For students who are currently in grades 9-12.
The program is limited to 15 soprano/alto and 15 tenor/bass voices.
AUDITION REQUIRED for entry into ISYM Musical Theatre
Application Materials
- Submit the Musical Theater Audition Application Form and non-refundable application fee- $30.00
- Submit a video of yourself singing 32 bars from the standard musical theater repertoire. Accompaniment is not required.
- Acceptance announced AFTER directors review all auditions.
You will receive the ISYM 2026 Musical Theatre Audition Submission Link in your audition payment confirmation email.
- Review of applications will begin April 1, and continue on a rolling basis until the program is full.
- Acceptance into ISYM Musical Theatre will be announced after the Musical Theatre directors review all of the audition tapes.
- ISYM registration fees ARE NOT required until AFTER the student is accepted into ISYM Musical Theatre.
- Once accepted, we will contact you with instructions on how to register for ISYM Musical Theatre.
- This program is expected to fill, so apply early!
Costs – AFTER Acceptance Notification
Resident – $925 (includes housing and all meals Monday dinner through Saturday breakfast)
Commuter – $675 (includes Monday dinner and lunch Tuesday through Friday)
Commuters are encouraged to participate in evening activities.
A Tuesday through Friday dinner package ($69) can be purchased on the first day of camp during registration on Monday.
ISYM Musical Theatre camp culminates in a final performances of musical theatre scenes selected to showcase each year’s group of students and is free and open to the public.

Lyric Theater Scholarship for college tuition
These students are selected by their musicality, vocalism, stagecraft, and collegiality throughout the week of ISYM. It should be noted that this 4-year full tuition scholarship to the Lyric Theatre @ Illinois Bachelor of Musical Arts program is contingent upon admission to the University of Illinois.
