EXPECTATIONS
Expectations of our Students
- Students are required to attend all concerts and rehearsals.
- Students must wear their identification badge at all times.
- There are certain offenses for which students may be immediately sent home with a letter to the parents, principal, and school director. These offenses are:
- Bullying, intimidation and other uses of physical or verbal assault.
- Use of severe inappropriate language.
- possession or use of illegal DRUGS, TOBACCO, ALCOHOL, and VAPE products. The University of Illinois is a smoke-free campus.
- possession or use of FIREWORKS or WEAPONS.
- unauthorized room or floor visitations (being on the wrong dorm floor)
- absences from classes without prior approval.
- any action that would endanger one’s health or property, or that of another.
- Association with persons not affiliated with ISYM is prohibited. Look for the ISYM ID Badge.
- Students will not be permitted to leave campus with anyone other than his/her parents unless a written note of consent is placed on file by a parent in the Counseling Office. Often students’ parents wish to take roommates out for lunch, etc. However, this is not a sound practice at ISYM unless written parental consent is given. If you anticipate allowing your son or daughter to leave campus with anyone other than yourself, please give your permission by completing the sign-out slip – including the names of approved adults who may check out your son or daughter. We will place this form on file. This applies to all persons, including family members other than parents.
- When walking without a counselor escort, students are expected to walk in groups of at least three and must stay within the allowed areas of campus.
- Students are permitted to drive their own car to ISYM if they have a license to do so. However, car keys must be turned into the Counselor’s office upon arrival. For resident participants, please turn in keys during registration. Resident students are not permitted to ride to and from classes and social activities with those commuters who do drive to ISYM. Commuters should not offer rides to other students. PARKING IS THE STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY.
- ISYM should be advised if a student has prescription medication requirements, what they are, and if ISYM staff needs to store in a refrigerator.
- Instrument repair service is not available through ISYM. If repairs are needed during ISYM, we can arrange to bring instruments to the Music Shoppe. Parents will be called by the repair person for approval before any work is done. Charges will need to be covered by the participant/parent. Instrument repair services will not be available on Sunday. ISYM is not responsible for any damage caused to instruments during the duration of the program.
