Smith Scholarship Details:
- The scholarship is retroactive to the beginning of the fall semester of the current year.
- This scholarship duration is based upon the normal length of study to attain an undergraduate music degree. This is most often a maximum of eight semesters. The projected length of study will be determined according to the current class standing in the School of Music. For example, a student in the first semester of her freshman year as a music major would receive the award for no more than a total of eight academic semesters [no summer sessions]. Exceptions or irregularities in this matter will be handled on a case-by-case basis and require the approval of the Admissions Director and the Director of the School of Music.
- The terms of the scholarship require the recipient to continue as a music major registered in the College of Fine + Applied Arts and to study applied music every semester in residence on campus, with the exception of that semester during which she practices teaches as a music education major.
- A recipient is required to make normal progress toward her degree and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.00 in all course work taken at the University of Illinois; the award will be revoked and made available to another qualified student should this grade point average not be maintained.
- The scholarship is subject to inclusion in any financial aid considerations the recipient may receive from the University of Illinois.
