From Sept. 5-7, 2025, the University of Illinois School of Music held PdMaxCon25~, a conference that brought in artists, scholars, musicians, performers, and composers from all over the world to present new experimental electronic music, multimedia, and research using computer music programming languages Pure Data and Max/MSP. The creators of both programming languages, Miller Puckette and David Zicarelli, were keynote speakers at the event, which featured three full days of concerts, papers, workshops, presentations, late night music sessions, and art installations. The School of Music collaborated with the College of Fine & Applied Arts, NCSA, Electrical & Computer Engineering, and the School of Art & Design. Programs were held both on campus at Smith Memorial Hall, the Music Building, and the Siebel Center for Design, and off campus in downtown Urbana at the Gallery Art Bar, the Analog Wine Library, and the Main Street Plaza.
