Dawn Harris awarded Charles Nelson Reilly Prize in Stage Direction
The LTI production of Turn of the Screw was released in June 2021 as part of an online Lyric Theatre Salon subscription that was made available to patrons in lieu of live stage performances due to the pandemic.
As a Resident Director for Lyric Theatre at Illinois, Dawn Harris has directed scenes from the standard and contemporary opera repertoire and won first place in the Graduate Division for the National Opera Association Collegiate Opera Scenes Competition for her staging of scenes from Britten’s THE TURN OF THE SCREW. Known for her expertise in the style of Gilbert and Sullivan, Harris has directed and choreographed nearly all of the G&S operettas for opera companies, theaters and symphony orchestras nationally. Additional directing and choreography credits include, The Magic Flute, Suor Angelica, Hansel and Gretel, Gianni Schicchi, Die Fledermaus, Orpheus in the Underworld, La Perichiole and The Turn of the Screw. As a musical theatre director, she has directed full productions of Man of La Mancha, South Pacific, Merrily We Roll Along, Oh, Coward, and The Light in the Piazza for LTI.
