About Wei-Ting Chen
Bio
Wei-Ting Chen, born in Taiwan, holds a Bachelor of Music degree with academic honor at National Taiwan Normal University, and is pursuing his master’s degree in violin performance and literature with Professor Nelson Lee at UIUC. As a soloist, he won the Paul Rolland Memorial String Award in 2022. He also played in several masterclasses, including Christian Altenburger, Sean Wang, Gregory Lee, Xiao Liu, and Ching-Ting Chang.
Actively playing in ensembles, he was a two-time honoree in UIUC Chamber Music Competition and was invited to a chamber concert in Chimei Museum using Guadagnini’s violin. He is the concertmaster in University of Illinois Symphony Orchestra, and the first violinist in Sinfonia da Camera. In addition to performance, he serves as a violin instructor in Illinois String Academy.
