Chen-Yu Huang is known for her charismatic and compelling musicianship and is the 2010 Krannert Debut Artist, the first harpist ever to be awarded. Currently Assistant Professor of Harp at Michigan State University and Principal Harp of the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, she previously was the principal harpist of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra and the American Wind Symphony Orchestra. Chen-Yu will perform delightful and piquant works from around the world including: virtuoso transcriptions of Haydn's Sonata in D Major Hob.XVI:24, Falla's Spanish Dance No. 1 from La Vida Breve, Smetana's The Moldau; well-known harp works such as Grandjany's Rhapsodie, Paul Patterson's Spiders, and Pearl Chertok's jazzy Around the Clock suite; as well as new works such as Josef Bardanashvili's The Distant Echo and Boris Pigovat's The Wandering Stars.
