Workshop on Ba Yin with Chen Yi
Dr. Chen is a Distinguished Professor of Composition at the University of Missouri– Kansas City Conservatory. She was elected to American Academy of Arts & Sciences in 2005, and the American Academy of Arts & Letters in 2019. She has won numerous awards and was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 2006.
This event is funded by the Kang Endowed Lectureship Series and co-sponsored through the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures, the Center for East Asian and Pacific Studies, and the Lorado Taft Lectureship on Art Fund through the College of Fine and Applied Arts.
Join the Eos Quartet and DMA candidate in Wind Band Conducting Isaac Brinberg for a night of music and conversation. The ensemble, conducted by Isaac, will perform Ba Yin by award-winning composer Chen Yi. Through the workshop, Dr. Chen, Isaac, and the musicians will discuss the structure and meaning of Ba Yin in the context of interculturalism and boundarylessness.
