Underground Connections
The Illinois Wind Symphony performs a program exploring time and place through music. Works by Holst and Bronnenkant form the centerpiece of the concert. Holst’s broad musical influences and his cornerstone work for band, Hammersmith, served as inspiration for Bronnenkant’s inventive Tarot. The program also features Maximum Underground, by U of I Professor of Composition Stephen Andrew Taylor, and Kevin Day’s tribute to Cuban culture, Havana.
