Larry Gray
Bassist, multi-instrumentalist and composer Larry Gray has enjoyed a career spanning some four decades in which he has collaborated with a long list of many of the world’s most important jazz artists, including Jack DeJohnette, Bobby Hutcherson, Joe Williams, McCoy Tyner, Benny Golson, James Moody, Sonny Stitt, Larry Coryell, Kenny Burrell, Joe Pass, Clark Terry, J.J. Johnson, Steve Turre, George Coleman, Lee Konitz, Benny Green, Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis, and Gary Bartz, among many others. He has five solo recordings to his credit, beginning with Solo + Quartet and most recently, Three Equals One. Among many projects as a collaborator or sideman, he appeared on five CDs during his twelve years as a member of the Ramsey Lewis Trio. Through the years, he toured with many artists, including Joe Williams, Clark Terry, Frank Wess, James Moody, Marian McPartland, and Ramsey Lewis, appearing at many important festivals and concert venues worldwide.
Most recently he appears on the brand new recording on ECM,Jack DeJohnette-Made in Chicago, with Muhal Richard Abrams, Roscoe Mitchell, and Henry Threadgill. He toured in 2015 with Mr. DeJohnette’s group and currently also torus with Larry Coryell’s Trio, alongside drummer Paul Wertico. Recently his project the Gray Wilkerson Ra Trio, featuring the internationally acclaimed improvisation musicians Avreeayl Ra He also serves as associate professor of jazz studies at the University of Illinois School of Music at Urbana/Champaign.
Amr Marcin Fahmy
Originally from Krakow, Poland, Amr Marcin Fahmy is a graduate of Karlowicz Music School and DePaul University. While still in high school, Amr was one of only two pianists in the country chosen to play in the Grammy All-American Jazz Ensembles, joining an elite group of musicians in a series of concerts and recordings in New York City. This event gave him the opportunity to work with artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Jon Faddis and Chick Corea. He was also invited to perform at the 1997 Grammy Awards and many of its accompanying events. Amr has shared the stage with, Gary Peacock, Peter Erskine, Bill Evans, Dick Oatts, Nicholas Payton, Koko Taylor and Kenny Werner. He is currently one of the most sought-after musicians in Chicago and abroad.
Clif Wallace
Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Clif Wallace began serious studies in Jazz at North Carolina Central University where he received both a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance.
In College, Clif gained broad experience in playing in many different musical settings playing with any one from blues guitarist Roy Roberts to Jazz Great Branford Marsalis. Ultimately earning the drum seat in the African American Jazz Caucus’s Historically Black College and University (HBCU) All-Star Big Band for three years. With the HBCU Band, he had the opportunity to perform with Jimmy Heath, Joe Chambers, Gerald Wilson, and Jimmy Cobb.
Just after college, he joined the judging panel for the 2008 Notre Dame Collegiate Jazz Festival along the likes of Marvin Stamm, Gene Bertoncini, Jim McNeely, Larry Ridley, and Jamey Aabersold.
In 2009, Clif Wallace took the opportunity to participate in Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead artist Residency Program in Washington, DC, as well as the Ravinia/Steans Institute Artist Residency Program led by Dr. David Baker, James Moody, Dr. Nathan Davis, and Rufus Reid in Chicago, Illinois. He was also chosen to be the drummer for the Chicago Jazz Institute’s annual Young Lions performance in 2010.
Recently, Clif Wallace has heard and seen playing with Saxophone and Clarinetist Victor Goines, and Vocalist Tammy McCann. As well as a host of other great artists such as Bobby Broom, Pharez Whitted, The Chicago Jazz Orchestra, Rodney Whitaker, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Diego Rivera, Robert Irving, III, Marquis Hill, Dan Trudell, John Brown and Orbert Davis. More notably, Clif also leads his own Quintet and other groups as a band leader and producer. Residing in Chicago, Illinois, Clif has become one of the city’s most in demand drummers for a many music platforms.
