The Illinois Wind Symphony presents the consortium premiere performance of Shuying Li’s Kung Fu, a work reflecting how the ancient philosophy serves as a catalyst for bringing people from different backgrounds together. The program also explores American music with Copland’s celebratory Outdoor Overture and Grantham’s exploration of Louisiana folk music, J’ai ete au bal. New UIUC clarinet professor Iura de Rezende is featured as soloist in Oscar Navarro’s cinematic concerto.
