About Thereza Lituma
Thereza Lituma is the Music Admissions Coordinator at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Before working in music admissions, she worked in the Graduate College’s Office of External and Internal Fellowships as the Manager of the Fellowship Finder Database.
In addition to her career in administration, Thereza has been hailed for singing with “beautiful colors” (CS Music, Frederica von Stade) “sweeping emotive power”, and an “appealing conviction” (News-Gazette). As a classical singer, she has performed with professional music companies such as the: Grant Park Music Festival, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Music of the Baroque, Springfield Symphony Orchestra, New Earth Ensemble, and the Ad Astra Music Festival.
Most recently, Thereza performed as the mezzo-soprano soloist in John Harbison’s Symphony No. 5 alongside the University of Illinois Symphony Orchestra and in the presence of the composer himself. In that same season, she also debuted the roles of Kate/Pirates of Penzance and Cherubino/Le Nozze di Figaro, covered Alto Soloist/Child of Our Time (Tippett) with the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra, and won first runner-up in the Krannert Debut Artist Competition.
Thereza Lituma is a proud alumna of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, School of Music where she earned multiple degrees in Vocal Performance under the tutelage of Professor Sylvia Stone.
