About Dr. Reem
Lara Reem
Dr. Lara Reem hails from a farm outside of Bishop Hill, Illinois. She has earned the Bachelor of Science, Master of Music Education, and the Doctor of Education degrees from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She has served as the choral director at Washington Community High School since 1993, where the choirs have performed for the Illinois Music Education Conference, the Illinois Sings festival, Illinois High School Association events as well as various other local, regional, and national events. She is a co-director of the annual school musical, the spring play, and the co-producer of the school’s Madrigal Dinner and Renaissance Fair. Additionally, Dr. Reem is the conductor for the Bradley Community Chorus, and is on the faculty of Illinois Summer Youth Music (ISYM) at the University of Illinois. In 2017, she was recognized with the 2017 NFHS Illinois Outstanding Music Educator award. Dr. Reem is a National Board Certified Teacher and has served on the National Federation of High Schools Music Committee.
Dr. Reem lives in Washington, IL with her husband, Dan, a history teacher at Washington Community High School. They are the parents of two adult children, Cate and Will.
