Aaron Mejorada
Aaron Mejorada is an educator and award winning a cappella arranger, from Des Plaines, IL. He currently serves as a Choir Director and Drama Director at Plainfield North High School, teaching five curricular choirs, two co-curricular a cappella groups, and theatre. Aaron also serves as an Executive Board Member for the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Illinois Chapter.
As a Drama Director and Speech Coach, Aaron leads weekly theatre workshops, passionate about intentionality in performance and the nuances in acting. He is actively involved in the school’s annual play and musical, contributing to both the creative and technical aspects of the productions. For over five years, Aaron has worked as a Stage Director and Administrative Assistant for the Illinois Summer Youth Music (ISYM) Musical Theatre Camp at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Also driven by his passions for a cappella, Aaron has earned notable recognition for his accomplishments in the field. He presented a session at the Illinois ACDA Fall Conference titled “A Cappella: Resources for Contemporary A Cappella in the Choral Program.” Aaron received two CARA nominations for his work on the Xtension Chords’ tenth studio album, “Power Hour.” As the President and Music Director of the Xtension Chords in 2021, Aaron hosted “AcappellaPalooza: Virtual,” which was the largest collegiate a cappella festival in the nation that year. Aaron is also the A Cappella Director of The Angelics, a nationally-renowned high school treble a cappella group. Under his direction, The Angelics competed at the International Championship of High School A Cappella (ICHSA), earning 3rd Place at Wild Card, which placed them 10th in the nation. They have been Semifinalists, Quarterfinal Champions, and have received Special Awards for “Outstanding Soloist,” “Outstanding Choreography,” and “Outstanding Vocal Percussion.”
Aaron earned his Bachelor’s in Music Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He was the recipient of the Warren H. Schuetz Memorial Award for demonstrating superior scholarship, musicianship, teaching, and choral conducting
