Wang-Chen Duo Residency Offers Full Week of Activity

The Wang-Chen Duo from Suzhou, China, will be in residence in the School of Music for a full week of engaging performances and activities, from October 29 though November 2.

Born in Taiwan, Yu-Chen Wang is a gu-zheng (Chinese Zither) performer as well as a composer. She graduated from Tainan National University of the Arts. While living in United State from 2011-2015, she was active with two ensembles, CompostQ Music/Dance Improvisation Group (USA) and the Orchid ensemble (Canada); with these two she performed across the United States.

A versatile bassist, Han-Jui (Henry) Chen has performed in North America, Europe, South Africa, Asia, and his native Taiwan. He enjoys performing as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral bassist. Henry was appointed to the faculty at Soochow University in Fall of 2014, and in 2018 he was appointed as professor of bass at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, China.  He previously taught double bass at Ball State University during 2011-2012 and University of Illinois Urbana- Champaign in 2013.
