Erin Gee one of Kronos' Fifty for the Future
Over the course of five seasons, 25 female and 25 male composers will each write a new work for string quartet. The works will not only be premiered by the Kronos Quartet, but the scores will then be made available, free of charge, to players and composers as a resource to further stimulate the creation and performance of contemporary music.
"The project compositions are intended to be approachable by musicians of a wide range of accomplishment, from youth ensembles to beginning professionals. Kronos/KPAA [Kronos Performing Arts Association] has commissioned more than 850 works since it was formed in 1973, but Fifty for the Future represents the largest single artistic and educational project that it has undertaken."
