Sophomore cellist, Oskar Norell, was invited to Washington D.C. to compete as a semi-finalist in the Washington International Competition. The WIC is one of the largest and most prestigious competitions for string players in the world – the string competition takes place every four years, and only 30 musicians out of hundreds of applicants are selected to compete live. The age range of eligible applicants is from age 18-30 years, so at age 19, Oskar will be one of the youngest competitors. The competition is happening this May 23-25th.
We are incredibly happy for Oskar as this is such a huge honor, and are proud that the School of Music will be represented at the WIC!
