Erin Brooker-Miller (BM, Harp Performance, 2014), an alumna of the Illinois Harp Program led by Professor Ann Yeung, has been appointed Executive Director of the New Hampshire Music Festival (NHMF). The NHMF announcement praises her “work ethic, experience, knowledge, and education” as ideal qualities for guiding the festival into an exciting new era.
Brooker-Miller joined NHMF as Festival Director in March 2024, following a comprehensive national search. Working alongside volunteer Co-Executive Directors Joe Higgins and Tido Janssen, she was instrumental in planning the summer season, showcasing exceptional organizational skills and adapting quickly to the festival’s demands. Her successful efforts earned her a recommendation from her colleagues, and the NHMF Board of Directors unanimously promoted her to Executive Director.
Beyond her leadership at NHMF, Brooker-Miller has an active and accomplished career as the Principal Harpist of the Des Moines Symphony Orchestra, a role she has held since 2017. She has performed as a soloist and chamber musician multiple times with the orchestra, including in standout performances such as Mozart’s Flute & Harp Concerto (October 2018), Debussy’s Danse sacrée et Danse profane (October 2020), and two solo livestream concerts in 2020. She also appeared in the orchestra’s Spotlight at the Temple chamber series in 2018 and 2019.
Brooker-Miller’s career extends nationally, performing with orchestras like the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Kansas City Symphony, Boise Philharmonic, and Nashville Opera. She has participated in prestigious music festivals, including the Round Top Music Festival, Fresh Inc Festival, Saratoga Harp Colony, and Miami Music Festival, establishing herself as a versatile and dedicated musician.
