About Goio Lima
Bio
Goio Lima is a seasoned saxophonist, arranger and composer who search for a personal touch and an alternative to his instrument’s idiom in Brazilian music. Although he has played extensively the jazz idiom, knowing its musicians and repertoire, Goio has in the interpretation his instrumental focus. Inspired by singers like Joao Gilberto and Nana Caymmi, he gives a delicate touch to the melody, with breathing and inflexions very close to the human voice but with the freedom of a sax player. He has performed different music styles specially those based on the heritance of great Brazilian names, from song to instrumental music, especially Jobim.
In his academic career he has thought at Unaerp, Unisantanna and UFU and in the third sector has collaborated as a vice coordinator of Unibes/Walmart and as a music director at IBF.
He has built two orchestras: Popular Orchestra of the Cerrado and Araxa Popular Orchestra and with them he has performed alongside great Brazilian names such as Ivan Lins, Joao Donato, Paulo Jobim and Toninho Horta.
He has recorded his first solo CD in 2020 with nineteen compositions and arrangements and his second CD, Eteronimo, with fifteen compositions for string quartet.
