About Angela Tammen
Bio
Dr. Angela Tammen is the Admissions Director for the School of Music. In this role, she oversees music admissions and recruitment, music enrollment, and merit-based financial aid. Dr. Tammen has been instrumental in developing a strategic recruitment and enrollment plan at the School of Music, and she has also distinguished herself as a leader in the music admissions field, presenting topics on recruitment, scholarships, and transfer applications at national music and performing arts conferences. Dr. Tammen began her administrative career at the University of Illinois with Illinois Summer Youth Music (ISYM) and she is committed to fostering arts advocacy through ISYM and the other public engagement programs at the School of Music.
In addition to her career in administration, Dr. Tammen continues to perform and teach the oboe. In the recent past Dr. Tammen has performed with the Peoria Symphony, Springfield Choral Society, Heartland Festival Orchestra, Kankakee Valley Symphony Orchestra, Prairie Ensemble, Champaign-Urbana Symphony, and the Sinfonia da Camera. Dr. Tammen has recorded albums with the Classical Chamber Players on the Mark Records album label and with the Sinfonia da Camera on the Albany Record label, and she participated in master classes with Geoffrey Burgess, Nancy Ambrose King, Michael Tilson Thomas, and John Mack. Dr. Tammen has maintained an active teaching career, appearing as a guest lecturer at Millikin University and serving on the faculty of the Illinois Summer Youth Music Double Reed week.
