UI Choirs to be featured with Montreal Symphony in Carnegie Hall Performance

Members the UI Chamber Singers, Oratorio Society, and Varsity Men's Glee Club will join the Montreal Symphony for an historic performance at Carnegie Hall in March. Performing Shostakovich's Symphony No. 13. "Babi Yar." The tenors and basses of the three UI choruses will be joined by members of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Chorus and bass soloist Alexander Vinogradov.

The March 24 performance marks Kent Nagano's final Carnegie Hall appearance as Music Director of the Montreal Symphony. 

The UI Choruses will be prepared by Professor Andrew Megill who, in addition to his duties as director of the UI Chamber Singers and Oratorio Society, serves as Chorus Master for the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Chorus. 

The program will also include pianist Mikhail Pletnev performing Robert Schumann's Piano Concerto.
