San Diego Supercomputing Center Grants Resources to Improve DISSCO

Dr. Sever Tipei, Professor of Composition-Theory and NCSA Faculty Affiliate, was granted an allocation on the supercomputers of the San Diego Supercomputing Center through "Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment" (XSEDE) program.  As part of the "Extended Collaborative Support Services" (ECSS) two SDSC consultants are working on improving the performance of his software for composition and sound design, DISSCO, developed at U of I Computer Music Project and Argonne National Laboratory.  DISSCO is routinely used in his teaching of Computer Music courses and is an integral part of his "Evolving Composition" project using Graph Theory, Complex Dynamic Systems Theory and Information Theory.
