Lishan Xue Wins International Competition
Lishan Xue, DMA student in piano performance and literature, was awarded 1st Place in the Piano Division of the 2017 New York Artists International Competition.
Ms. Xue was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall with winners in other categories of the competition in a concert on July 6, 2017. She performed Bartok's Two Etudes, Op.18 No.1 and No.2.
Her appearance at Weill Recital Hall was underwritten in part by the William Allen and Lena M. Corder Fund and the Key Charles Pittman Performing Arts Endowment Fund from the University of Illinois School of Music and College of Fine and Applied Arts.
Ms. Xue is a student of Prof. William Heiles and is a 2017 Kate Neal Kinley Memorial Fellow at the University of Illinois. She has previously won first place in the 2016 Franz Liszt Piano Competition and is on the faculty of the U of I Piano Laboratory Program and Illinois Summer Youth Music.
