Harpists take on Teaching Positions
Harpists are making it happen now and for the future.
Molly O'Roark recently joined the Urban Youth Harp Ensemble in Atlanta, Georgia as a full-time instructor. The UYHE offers free harp instruction to over 100 students in the Atlanta public school system. Molly, a 2014 Anne Adams Award winner, is an alumna and doctoral candidate. She is a featured harpist-composer at the 2017 HARP DAY, led by MSU harp professor Chen-Yu Huang. Molly joins alumnus Charles Lynch, who leads the Mesa Public Schools Harp Program in Arizona with over 200 harp students in 16 schools, in guiding two of the largest secondary school harp programs in the US.
Noël Wan, laureate of many international competitions, joins the music faculty at the University of Notre Dame and St. Mary's College in Indiana, offering her expertise and experiences in harp instruction.
Natalie Teodori joins Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas this fall, bringing her contemporary music and school harp program experiences to the next generation of creative artists.
All are alumni of the Illinois Harp Program.
