Adolphe Sax International Saxophone Competition Features UI Connections
Debra Richtmeyer, Professor of Saxophone, recently served as a juror for the The Adolphe Sax International Saxophone Competition. The most prestigious international classical saxophone competition, it takes place every four years in Dinant, Belgium – the birthplace of Adolphe Sax.
Over 300 saxophonists entered the competition and 79 were selected to compete live in Dinant.
Among the 79 were Illinois graduate Erik Elmgren (BM '15) who was one of only six Americans selected to compete in Belgium.
