"What Stays Behind" by composer Andrew Rodriguez is a site-specific score that probes how we experience the spaces of Allerton Park and Krannert Art Museum in response to sound and movement.

Twelve students from the School of Music will perform the piece, with unique performances of the piece taking place twice in the Sunken Garden of Allerton Park and once in the East Gallery of Krannert Art Museum.

Whether distanced across the garden or partitioned by gallery walls, the varied locations of the performers will allow for audience members to safely navigate the physical space of each performance and experience the piece in different ways.

Andrew Rodriguez is a composer, producer, and guitarist originally from West-Central Texas and currently based in Champaign, Illinois. He utilizes his intimate history as a performer in the American punk/hardcore scene to formulate the core of his music. Rodriguez holds a Master of Music from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign; he is an alum of the Gabriela Lena Frank Creative Academy of Music, and a former Bouman Fellow for Kinds of Kings’ 2019-20 residency at National Sawdust.

All performances are free, however, the performance at KAM requires a reservation
