Bachelor of Music

The Bachelor of Music degree is designed for students interested in a traditional music degree with a concentraion in a specific area. The BM degree will help students prepare for careers or graduate study as performers, scholars, or composers.

The School of Music offers the Bachelor of Music in six areas. Click on each degree below for specific information for specific degree, application, and audition information.

• Vocal Performance
• Composition/Theory
• Jazz Performance
• Musicology
• Open Studies (Piano Pedagogy, Lyric Theatre, Theatre, Music Industry, you decide!)

The Bachelor of Music degree is comprised 130 hours consisting of the following types of courses:

• General Education courses: 33 hours
• Music Core (theory, history, ensembles, conducting): 49 hours
• Major-Specific Courses: 44-64 (depending upon choice of major)
• Electives (as needed for up to 130 hours)

In order to be considered for acceptance into a BM program, students must pass an audition in addition to completing all parts of the application process.
