CAMIL I (MB 4033) is a special-purpose lab supporting computer music classes and independent research projects in software sound synthesis, computer-based composition and interactive performance control. CAMIL I is open for use during all Music Building hours and requires a key for access.

CAMIL I Hardware

  • 1 GB Ethernet, and wireless internet access
  • 14 iMacs running macOS 10.12 (as of Summer 2017)
    • 11 new iMacs as of 11/2015, with i7 processors, 16GB RAM, and 500GB SSD (workstations 1-10, 14)
    • 3 older iMacs with i3 processors, 4GB RAM, and 500GB serial HD (workstations 11-13)
  • Yamaha Disklavier Grand Piano, controllable at workstation 14, and configurable over the network
  • Dedicated 8.1-channel sound system
  • Alesis Q25 25-key MIDI controllers at every station
